Ken E. Friesen
Earthbound Environmental
Ken Friesen, MA, is President of earthbound environmental, involved in product stewardship and recycling system design and cost monitoring in Manitoba since 1989.
Ken has extensive involvement in product stewardship in Manitoba in several capacities. He was a member of the Implementation Steering Committee (1994) that designed and implemented the Manitoba Product Stewardship Corporation and served on the MPSC Board for the first three years. He was also a founding Director of the Manitoba Tire Stewardship Board and Chairman from 1996 to 2001. A founding member of the Manitoba Association of Regional Recyclers, Ken also served as its President for several years. He has advised the Manitoba industry group (MIAC) that serves on the MPSC Board from 1998 to the present. In all of these capacities he has worked with, advised, and facilitated cross-sectoral collaboration between industry representatives, municipalities, and the ENGO sector.
Ken’s public sector involvement includes 10 years on the City of Steinbach Council, 4 of those as Deputy Mayor, experience that assists him to understand municipal decision making processes. He was elected as a Director of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board (1999 – 2002) and was a founding member of the FCM Green Funds Council (2000 – 2002) which designed the Green Municipal Funds program to fund improvements and innovations to municipal environmental infrastructure. He currently serves on the Board of several charitable Foundations.
